It's Not Just The Destination It's The Journey Too!
Prince William Sound encompasses 10,000 square miles of protected waterways, islands, fjords, as well as 10,000 glaciers. The region offers the perfect habitat for whales, porpoise, sea otters, sea lions and seals. Bear, deer, goats and sheep inhabit the mainland. The spectacular views, awe inspiring wildlife and immenseness of this region will make you want to stay forever. (Or at least return again and again.)
The communities of Whittier, Valdez and Cordova are along the shoreline. Whittier is one of the communities we use to either start or end your adventure.
From Whittier, Alaska Custom Cruises can access some of the most beautiful locations in Alaska. One of the most famous attractions is Columbia Glacier - four miles wide and over 200 feet high at the face. From the docks of Whittier, you will step onto The Alaska Dream and step into Alaska at her best. Along the shoreline you will see mountains coming straight out of the water, rivers of ice flowing into the sea, bears and mountain goats in their natural habitat and much more!
Created during World War II, Whittier served as a cargo port and petroleum depot. It is now the home of 182 permanent residents. From Whittier, our guests will visit many of Prince William Sound's most spectacular glaciers and our cruises offer a chance to see a variety of sea birds and marine mammals.
If your cruise takes you to Valdez you will find abundant activities there. Visit the Valdez Historical Museum or walk the boardwalk at the Small Boat Harbor. You can hike or bike along fabulous trails and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls in Keystone Canyon or Solomon Gulch.
Accessible by water or air only, the port of Cordova offers exceptional sport fishing and hiking on nearby trails. This port can be added to any Alaska Custom Cruise adventure.
